Inventors. Innovators. Entertainers. Is there a better band in indie rock*? Certainly one of the great live bands – that any music fan really must experience live – preferably more than once, being that every single show is different. 2014 is their 30th anniversary and they are still one of the very best things in audio.

* In YLT’s case, “indie” could mean psych rock, beautiful ballads, free jazz freakouts, Latin-influenced jams, pop songs and more. They swap instruments, ideas and set lists constantly. Who else could have done songs with Yoko Ono, De La Soul and Daniel Johnston? They were even asked by mega fan Matt Groening to do a version of The Simpsons theme.
